$14,000 to go towards breast cancer research

December 12th, 2016

Here at Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH), we encourage our employees to support the community and various charities. Earlier this year, a group of ASH colleagues rallied together to participate in Relay for Life.

The ‘ASH Splinters’ team raised over $14,000 through the relay event, golf day and lunch day! An astonishing result that the entire company is proud of. This donation will help fund the Cancer Council Victoria-research grant supporting the work of Dr Peter Janes, Professor Dimitar Nikolov and Dr Elgene Lim from Monash University who are researching into the treatment of breast cancer in adults.

This particular grant team will be investigating new therapies that specially target key proteins on cancer cells that help them evade established drugs. This work will lead to better understanding of the role these proteins in breast cancer and aid development of improved treatment of drug resistant cancers.

It is extremely gratifying to know that our amazing efforts are going to be used by a particular project to help fight back against a disease that touches us all.
