Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH) is a privately owned Australian timber mill and manufacturer. Established over 30 years ago, ASH has grown to become one of the largest hardwood mills in Australia; and Australia's largest hardwood manufacturer. Utilising automation and economy of scale, ASH operates 6 on-site manufacturing lines to value add timber from log to finished product. These include moulding, laminating, finger-jointing, deep splitting, set length docking and mass-timber production. Timber species include Victorian ash, American Oak, Jarrah and Mountain Grey Gum.
ASH, not your average timber sawmill and manufacturer.
We do things differently here at ASH and it’s what makes our products so recognisable in the market. We value innovation and efficiency within each of our 6 manufacturing lines. ASH is truly unique, and for good reason – to offer the customer high quality timber products at an affordable price. For example, our location was carefully selected many years ago that naturally allows the right amount of sun and air flow to slowly equalise the timber before kiln drying. Our commitment to quality by ultrasound scanning and grading means each board is optimised to get the best product possible. Combine that with over 30 years laminating experience and you get a superior option for your next project.
Manufacturing at ASH thrives from the perfect combination of innovation, technology and adaptiveness.
ASH is unlike any other timber manufacturer. Our value to innovation is what sets us apart. Over the past 30 years, we have developed the site to now run 6 different manufacturing lines – green mill processing, dry mill processing, 25mm line, mouldings, reprocessing, laminating and mass-timber processing. ASH has over 3,000 different profile offerings in product ranges like flooring, bench tops and panels, mass-timber members, mouldings and architraves, veneers, windows and doors, staircase components, cladding, DAR/sawn and external profiles.
They don’t call timber the most environmentally friendly building product for nothing.
Here at ASH, we are committed to sustainability and we don’t like to do things half-hearted so 100% of the timber we source is from regrowth forests and 100% of each log received is used. It is important that ASH sources its timber from certified, regrowth forests to ensure the best practices in sustainable harvesting are adhered to. But what makes timber so extraordinarily unique is its ability to capture carbon from the atmosphere and store it for life in an attractive material.
Health & Safety
The health, safety and wellness of our staff are all indispensable to the ASH operations.
ASH is dedicated to the health, safety and wellness of our employees, contractors and stakeholders. We are the only timber mill certified to AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001, these certifications ensure ASH complies with WHS laws and creates a safe workplace. ASH’s Health, Safety and Wellness policy promotes all employees and contractors to be safe and health conscious at work and to encourage these behaviours to spread into their activities outside of the workplace.
