The Space

This modern day bungalow has the ultimate selection of contemporary materials – monochrome walls and doors, concrete, red brick and blonde timber.

PLY ARCHITECTURE

“GoodWood was used in a number of visual cues with intent of bringing a softness and warmth to the living and bathrooms, which required some custom detailing”

GOODWOOD PRODUCT

PLY, an architectural practice based in South Australia, are leaders in cohesive design across a multitude of layers. The practice combines imagination and experience to result in a creative, yet attainable space. The PLY team were enlisted to complete the brief of a ‘bungalow alteration that has a dynmaic modern living/entertaining space with direct connection to the existing living quarters at front of home but equally separated enough to provide a threshold between each’.

The design utilises volume, exploiting controlled high-level openings and light spills to evoke an open feel. The palette reflects its mid suburban coastal location further curating a warm and inviting space for its new residents.

GoodWood Victorian ash was used in a host of applications to compliment the dynamic brief. Ben further adds “GoodWood was used in a number of visual cues with intent of bringing a softness and warmth to the living and bathrooms, which required some custom detailing”.

PLY specified GoodWood shiplap lining, along with DAR and some customised profiles. Take a look at the extensive GoodWood range here.

“The kitchen flows to a lounge space which is compressed in scale by the timber jewel/mezzanine above invoking a sense of intimacy” Ben, Director at PLY.
